process

After you submit an inquiry, I will set up a brief phone to offer an overview of the process and chat through any questions you may have. Once you select the package that best suits your celebration, I will send your contract along with an invoice for the 35% retainer to officially reserve your date. A few weeks before the wedding, we will schedule another call to review the final details and ensure everything feels effortless, organized, and fully tailored to your day!

On the wedding day, my husband and assistant and I arrive at least two hours before the ceremony to set up. Having the portrait station ready early gives guests something fun to enjoy as they arrive and mingle.
During cocktail hour and the reception, my husband helps guests sign up and takes reference photos, which he sends directly to my iPad while I paint on site. I can typically paint one person in about 6–8 minutes, which allows me to create a steady flow of portraits throughout the evening. Each portrait is painted fully by hand on 5×7” archival watercolor paper using ink and watercolor, with the guest’s name written on the back. Finished portraits are placed in protective sleeves so guests can take them home.
We stay for a minimum of four hours of painting time and usually finish when things begin to naturally wind down later in the evening. Since each portrait is painted by hand, not every piece is completed before the event ends.

Following the wedding, I complete the remaining portraits in my studio, which are mailed directly to you within four weeks — perfect to include in your Thank-You notes!

FAQs
What do you need to set up on the day-of?
All I need for the day of is access to power, WiFi, and about 6x6’ of space. I also ask that if it is outdoors and weather is inclement, that I be set up under some sort of cover.
will everyone get a portrait?
As my assistant and I stay throughout the evening, everyone who would like a portrait is given enough time to come by and get their photograph taken. I find that as the night progresses, people who may have initially been hesitant to be painted end up coming by! Any portraits that I don’t finish during the event will be completed afterwards in my studio and mailed to you within 4 weeks.
do you need a vendor meal?
Yes please! Both my husband/assistant and I will need a vendor meal. We do not have any food restrictions.
Will you travel?
Yes! I am more than happy to travel for clients and help celebrate their special day with my artwork. I have a 65 cents/mile travel fee to locations up to 6 hours away. Client is responsible for flight costs for me and my assistant for any journey over 6 hours. For travels longer than 2.5 hours, hotel accommodations will be included in the final quote based on current market rates.
Will we (the bride and groom) get a portrait?
Yes! I like to complete the portrait of the bride and groom after the event in my studio, so I can make it a little more special. If you’d like a more detailed rendering, please refer to my additional options section above or let’s chat about your special vision!
do you take special requests for portraits?
While I don’t normally take requests during a Live Guest Painting session, in special occasions I am more than happy to oblige. These instances include painting a loved one who has recently passed, or perhaps someone who cannot travel to the event.
